Automated localisation leveraging translation memory.
One of our clients, a global consumer tech company, was facing a shift in their business from being a leading software provider to expanding in hardware and accessories. An increasing number of complex packaging assets meant a significant growth in languages, legal and regulatory requirements. The resulting proliferation of required assets put a strain on the client’s internal localisation processes and was beginning to impact quality and timelines.
They asked us to think differently on how we could partner with them to create a solution.
Our idea was to integrate a translation memory tool into the actual localisation+ systems used for packaging and digital production, and re-connect the systems together over one production platform specific to the client needs and workflow.
We developed a localisation+ solution blending high-performance, high-capacity intelligent software systems with active, skilled project management. Ensuring effective and consistent brand delivery for our client across their ever-increasing number of markets, languages and regulatory frameworks. By combining the skills of the operational process with technological systems, we were able to look at trends and repetition in the process to deliver automation resulting in both time and cost efficiencies.
One example involved a website that was localised through different channels within the client. We centralised it through one process and a customised integrated system. Steps were instantly saved in the process and reductions in repetitive project management administration. An ever-growing, live translation memory was built; in 2018 over 60% of translated items leveraged our translation memory – a 20% increase in reuse of terms and words year on year.
